Masachika KUMEBE (久米部 正親) (久米部正親)
Masachika KUMEBE (June 6, 1841-September 25, 1910) was from Osaka, Settsu Province and a member of the Shinsengumi. A corporal. A Gun Metsuke (an inspector of foot soldiers). His surname was also written as 粂部 (KUMEBE). After the Restoration, he called himself as Tadataka Ino. A First Lieutenant.
He joined to the Shinsengumi in 1864.
The Boshin War broke out in 1868, and he got injured in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi; however, he participated in the Battle of Koshu-Katsunuma. He served as a Gun Metsuke during the Aizu War. Caught in the crossfire of the new government army at Nyoraido, the old Shinsengumi formed by Jiro YAMAGUCHI (Hajime SAITO) was separated. KUMEBE continued to be routed and surrendered in Choshi in October of that year.
After his release, he entered government service as an army officer for the Meiji Government.
He died of illness in Sendai in 1910. He was 70 years old.
